Sample Budget (overview)
This overview will help you see what you are paying each month and how much money you have left over once all expenses are paid.
Step 1 — Gather your monthly expenses and depict them in the manner shown below:
Due date (each Month) - Monthly Bill - Payment Amount
1st - Rent/Mortgage - $1000
10th - Car Payment - $500
10th - Electric - $200
15th - Car insurance - $100
18th - Water - $ 50
20th - Cell Phone - $80
28th - Gas ( utility) - $20
30th - Cable/Internet - $100
Monthly - Fuel - $200 ($50 x 4 weeks)
Monthly - Food - $400 ($100 x 4 weeks)
Monthly - Daycare - $1200 ($300 x 4 weeks)
Step 2 - Add up all the monthly expenses - Based on the example above the total would be = $3,850
Step 3- Write down how much you bring home each paycheck or monthly income.
For this example, the amount is - $2,185 per check after taxes, receiving at least (2) checks per month, the total monthly income = $4,370.
Final Calculations: Take your monthly income and subtract the expenses for the month:
$4,370 (pay per month) - $3,850 (expenses) = $520
If the above number for you is negative number then you may be in some financial trouble.
If the above number is positive, then you may be able to use that money towards, investments, vacations, or emergency savings.
